Antique Furniture lovingly restored to the highest standard in my workshop, near to Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone, Kent.
Welcome to my website, specialising in the restoration and repair of antique items, such as chairs, tables etc, in South East England. This includes veneering and french polishing.
With more than twenty years experience of Repairing, Restoring and Conserving antique furniture behind me, I have encountered and learned to solve most of the problems which commonly occur and some of those less frequently met. I have also studied under a number of specialist cabinet makers.
Like most restorers, mine is a small, one man business. Fine woodworking and old furniture have always been among my interests. I use traditional methods and hand tools whenever possible though a band saw and bench sander occasionally have their uses. I always use hot scotch glue, never modern synthetics. I make my own polish from beeswax and canuba (a hard vegetable wax from Brazil).
Some years ago I was published in the BAFRA newsletter, in an article about my restoration of a 16th century "Nonsuch" chest for a local client. I have also carried out repair work in a number of churches in the Kent area. Chair repair often figures in my work including some of Chinese construction from Singapore.
